just found this picture

Adam must have recently uploaded this picture because I hadn't seen it before today.  This picture was taken not long after Jonah was born.  It's his first picture!

christmas 2012

We had a pretty relaxing Christmas this year at home.  It was the first time in 4 years we got a tree for our house since we decided not to travel since Jonah is still so young.  It was also the first time that Tobey had somewhat of a clue of what was going on which made Christmas so much more fun.  (I almost spelled fun as "phun".)    Anyways, here are some pictures, and Adam uploaded some video up on his youtube channel (Slizide).

baptism cake

Yesterday, Jonah was baptized!  As soon as I get the pictures, I'll post them, but I do have pictures of the cake I made.  It was all made from scratch except I did use a box mix as the base.  As you can see below, it was a big hit!

jonah - 2 months old

2 Months Old - 12/17/12
It's crazy that Jonah-Bear is already 2 months old!  He is such a sweet little baby who hardly fusses.  He is very friendly and smiles to anyone who talks to him, especially his big brother, Tobey.  In fact, he loves watching whatever his big brother is doing.  Whenever Tobey is in the room with him, his eyes follow Tobey wherever he goes, and if he can't see Tobey, he'll strain himself trying to see him.  Jonah continues to be a good eater and a fairly good sleeper.  He eats every 2 to 4 hours, and he only wakes twice at night (at about 12 and then 3:30).  He goes to bed at 7:30 and wakes for the day at 6:30...not bad for a 2 month old!  He can sometimes put himself to sleep at night, but sometimes Adam has to go in there and shhh him a little.  He also does 3 or 4 naps during the day.  For a while he was doing one or two naps a day that were 3 hours!  Those are not as frequent as they once were, but he still takes some long naps mixed with the short ones.  Here are his stats for two months:

Weight:  12 lbs and 4 ounces - 64%tile
Height:  24.2 inches - 89%tile
Head Circumfrance:  39.9 cm - 48%tile

Here are some more pictures of Jonah, but I have to admit that we have slacked in taking pictures.  Hopefully, we'll do better next month.

tobey's advent

I'm not exactly sure what he was saying, but he was pretending to read about Advent.  He's totally into lighting the candles each night.

picture with santa 2012

This morning was the Feast of the Immaculate Conception so we went to mass, and then the boys got their picture taken with Santa.  At mass, Tobey was very good!  But when Fr Jack got all fired up during his homily yelling and pounding his fists, Tobey said, "Amen!  Amen!"  Ha!

Here is the picture with Santa for 2012.  Tobey told Santa that he wanted trains.

There were also crafts available for the kids to do.  While in line waiting for Santa, Adam asked Tobey if he wanted to do a craft.  And Tobey said, "Yes, for Mommy!"  When Adam told me that, my heart just melted!  Here is the craft he did for me:

His pants are backwards (and are PJ pants), he is wearing train socks under my socks, no shirt, and a sticker on his arm.  Thank goodness we didn't have to go anywhere.

Tobey told me he wanted to bring his cars to his picnic that was in his room (I didn't even know he knew what a picnic was!).

getting the tree

I took this picture as we were getting our Christmas tree off our car.  He missed a lot of fun sleeping during this time because Tobey was a riot!  It was so much fun taking a two year old to get a Christmas tree, which is the first time he has ever gone since we haven't gotten one in 4 years.  Tobey was insistent on the way to the tree lot that we needed to get a tree with an orange ball on it.  We told him he could get an orange ornament to put on the tree.  Then at the tree lot he was telling us which trees were good ones.  When we got home and Adam was putting on the lights, Tobey said, "It's like a party!"  What parties have you been going to, Tobes?  Pictures of the tree to come later.

6 weeks sleep

I'm not a fan of co-sleeping.  I don't care if other people want to co-sleep, but I don't.  I like my space way too much.  But for the first 6 weeks of Jonah's life, he slept at night on me.  Every night we slept on the couch, me on my back and him on top of me.  And he would nurse on and off all night long.

Well at 6 weeks we decided to do something about it.  I spoke through Facebook with a gentle sleep training consultant who was trained by "The Sleep Lady" about getting Jonah down to sleep.  She said to put him down at bed time (not naps...do that at 4 months) drowsy but awake, and if and when he cries, sh-sh and pat him.  So last night that is what we did.  It took about an hour to get him down at first, and then he woke up once or twice at non-feeding times, and Adam had to sh-sh and pat him for a minute or two.  Tonight, it took me maybe 20 minutes to get him down.  YAY!  I'm hoping he'll start sleeping for longer periods of time now that he is, I'm guessing, 12 lbs about.  And 6 weeks is usually when babies start sleeping 4 to 6 hours at night.  Hopefully it's just around the corner for us!
