note to self
Just so I can remember for next time. Today, at a little over 2 years old, Tobey came up to me and ask me to change his poopy diaper. I guess it's a small milestone, but potty training is probably still a ways away. But when we have another child, and I start wondering when will this kid ever notice a dirty diaper, I'll can refer back to this and remember it's normal for it to be after 2 years.

taste of lanier
We went to the Taste of Lanier (High School) yesterday, and it was very impressive! For $10 a ticket, you get a sample from each of the 20+ vendors (which is a much better deal than any of the other "Taste of" events that we have been to. The vendors included Longhorn Steakhouse, California Dreaming, Frontara, Yogli Mogli, Ippolito's, Mellow Mushroom, Sugar Hill Diner, Rita's, Wild Wings, etc. So quality places. At the very end, we got Tobey an ice cream cone (from Blue Bell), and he loved it! He refused to give it to us even for a second. Somehow, he got all the ice cream out of the cone, and then he told me the cone was "boring".

towing cars
Today Tobey was playing a game where he would say his hot wheels cars were "broken", and he'd have to tow them to the mechanics on his car playmat. Then after they got to the mechanics, they'd be fixed, and another car would breakdown to be towed.

Tobey: Tobey need red ghini (Lamborghini).
A little later...

"good eating"
We went to IHOP for dinner tonight. Tobey ordered pancakes, but he ended up eating most of Adam's fries. When we left, he said it was "good eating".

big and tall
We were discussing with Tobey at dinner tonight about getting big and tall and that's why he needed to eat. He said that Adam was big and I was tall. Then during his story time tonight, this happened:
Adam: How old are you, Tobey?
Tobey: Big

watercolors
Tobey had gotten some watercolors for his birthday so I thought we should try them out. It actually kept him busy for a whole hour. And he did pretty good! Check out his artwork!
Another thing that happened today, although it was not a planned activity like the watercolors, was throwing trains. We've been telling Tobey not to throw trains, but hey, he's a boy so he does sometimes. Today, when he threw his new train Sidney, it landed in the blinds and stayed there!
two year old stats for tobey
I took Tobey for his two year doctor appt last week, but we had to change it to a sick visit. While we were there, they took his measurements. He was only 22.8 lbs, but he was 35.25 inches long. I manually figured out the percentiles on a growth chart so obviously these are averages, but that keeps him in the 1%tile for weight, but about the 70%tile for height. That seems about right.

tobey's second birthday party
Tobey's party was so much fun this year! It was more geared towards the kids this year, and we invited a lot of them. You have to go all out when you only have one child and their birthday is on the weekend, right?! Here are some of the pictures.
I didn't actually bake the cake. I bought Sara Lee frozen pound cake and cut it up to look like trains.
Train tracks to the front door
Adam made a train out of cardboard boxes.
At some point the party moved out back.
Tobey had a littler helper!
This was the invite we used.

lent update
So I'm not doing too good with my Lenten promises...at least not the Facebook one. I have been going on it more than once a day, however, I am going on it significantly less than I was before, and some days, I do only go on once. My other thing was to give up sugar, but I have been drinking soda since my stomach got all messed up with this stomach bug I had earlier in the week (which is why I did not post anything).
That all being said, I have picked up praying a decade of the rosary a day to increase my prayer life. I was telling a priest that I was not doing good with my Lenten sacrifices, and he said that increasing prayer was what is important. So I think the switch is good. I'm still limiting my time on FB, but my real focus is more on prayer now.

tobey is two!
Tobey turned two last Sunday...his favorite number! He will tell you he is two when you ask his age. He can say up to 4-word sentences. He started to eat burgers and chicken. His favorite saying is "go away" (sad, I know). He also likes to talk about "coming" and "going" (for example, "mommy coming" means mommy come here). His favorite thing to play with are his Hot Wheels and his trains. Tobey never lets his "Gee" leave his side. He is a happy kid, except when he is sleepy. In fact, he'll tell you when he wants to take a nap. He also started to enjoy coloring. Here are some shots from this past month.
Playing with his pinwheel
It looks like he is watching tv...
...but he is really playing with his "appleberry" which sings him letters.
Playing in mommy's car
Coloring
Telling mommy a story
Watching Thomas which we allow him to watch a few times a week...only show he likes thankfully
Last month we plan to do a picture in the corner of the couch. We'll do it yearly now. He is starting to look the same each month.
circus
Last weekend we took Tobey to the circus. It was his first circus (and Adam's), and it was his first show ever. He did pretty good and about how we expected. Some parts of the show captivated him while at other times, he seemed bored out of his mind. When we asked him what his favorite thing was, he said, "two cars", which were the couple of vehicles being driven around. He seemed to pay the most attention when a lot was going on. The more movement, the better. And when we stood up at intermission and at the end, Tobey just started running. This boy does not like to sit still. I don't think we will be going to another show in a long time. Here are some pictures of us in our seats waiting for the show to start.
