people, get up!

Tobey and I went to mass this morning since it is my patron saint's day (St. Julia of Corsica, pray for us).  As we were leaving, there were some ladies kneeling and praying.  Tobey ran over to them and yelled very loudly, "People, get up!"

building tracks and vacuuming

These were taken a week or so ago.

Tobey has started to make train tracks throughout the house.

So happy!

Don't bother him.  He is very busy.

The tracks continue the next day...

Adam put these pennies on the real train tracks, and they got flattened by a train.  When we got home, Tobey put them on his train tracks.

After Tobey saw me vacuuming the carpets, he told me his car mat needed vacuuming.

four months with october baby

Here is my 4 month (17 weeks) shot with October Baby.  We took it last Friday.

homemade bread

My first attempt at homemade bread.  It was way over-flavored so next time I'll have to try a different recipe.

run for the orphans

This morning Adam, I, Tobey, and the baby ran in the Run for the Orphans 5k for our church.  It was a fundraiser for the youth group going to Nicaragua this summer.  I did a run/walk and pushed Tobey in the stroller...a lot of work being 4 months pregnant.  I walk a lot pushing Tobey, but not that far and not running.  Tobey did great, and we finished in 41:53...very respectable since there were 3 of us!  Adam finished in 26 minutes and got 3rd for this age!  Here are some pictures:

kicking

I'm at 17 weeks and 3 days today, and I felt the baby kick from the outside.  Should that even be possible?  This one will be a feisty one for sure!

to dance

Tobey was cleaning up the playroom so I asked him why he was cleaning.
Tobey: Tobey getting ready.
Me: Ready for what?
Tobey: To dance.

our medieval fun and games

Last Saturday we went to the Georgia Renaissance Festival, and it was so much fun!  Here are some pictures from our trip:

First stop at the festival

Banging on drums

He loved the swords! That was his favorite thing of the festival.

Sword fight!

Tried out archery

I was terrible, but I got better with each shot.  Too bad I only had 5.

Silly knight!

Tobey couldn't quite get his face through.

Starting to get tired

More swords

Should have bought him one!  :(  Next time...

Playing "Cut the Fruit" while waiting for jousting

Too tired to eat dinner

Almost falling asleep, and it amazes us that he never fell asleep on the hour drive home.

Here is a video of me doing archery:

We had so much fun that we think we'll make it a yearly tradition!

way up

After I put Tobey in his crib last night and turned towards the door, he said to me, "Mommy, cover Tobey up.  Cover Tobey way up."

7-layer dip

Tobey's educational activity for the day: making 7-layer dip.  He learned about counting and cooking all in one activity!  Layers included refried beans, sour cream, avocado, salsa, cheese, lettuce, and green onion.  I was surprised he actually watched the whole assembly, but I did give him some food as motivation.  Tobey's tasks included what layer should be next and the spreading of the green onions.  It was so good that I ate about a fourth of it once it was done.  Tobey wouldn't eat a bite.  He wanted applesauce instead.

A B C D's

It cracks me up that Tobey doesn't the alphabet, "A B C's", but instead he calls them, "A B C D's".

what's tobey's deal with broccoli

Tobey doesn't eat broccoli (yet), but he talked about it twice today which I take to be a good sign.  First, when we were in the grocery store, after we walked past the broccoli he said to me, "daddy need broccoli".  Well in that case, I better buy some!  Then this evening, I told him we were going to Chic-fil-A for dinner, and he told me, "Tobey eat pancakes, mommy eat broccoli, daddy eat mac and cheese."  I think I would have gotten the short end of the deal except for the fact that Chic-fil-A serves fries instead of broccoli.

first sewing repair

I've sewn a few things, but this is the first time I have made a repair.  I wanted to go under the belt loop, but I couldn't figure out how to do it expect to hand-sew it, and there was no way I was going to do that.  Anyways, I'm happy to be putting my skills to good use.  Adam's jeans have been saved.

first annual slide watching of the kentucky derby

Adam and I have probably watched the Kentucky Derby for the past few years, but this year we decided to make it a family thing.  Everyone was allowed to pick two horses that they were betting on, and then we watched the race out in the living room while eating dinner (just because it is Tobey's dinner time).  This year our picks went as follows:

Casey - Daddy Long Legs and Hansen
Adam - Trinniberg and Prospective
Tobey - Union Rags and Liaison (actually he said he wanted the "pink horsey", and this one was wearing pink.)

Turns out that Liaison was the top horse of our picks so Tobey won this year!
