wounds and the er

We had quite an eventful day yesterday.  Tobey was in the nursery at church while I was teaching at Catholic Camp, and when I went to pick him up, he was crying a little bit, but it was passed his nap time so I didn't think much of it.  He was sucking his thumb and when we got to the car, I told him to pop his thumb out.  When he did, I noticed a very scary wound in the crook of his arm.  I flipped out.  It looked like a hole in his arm, like a huge laceration.  So I ran back inside with him to ask what had happened.  No one knew or saw hit happen!  My guess is that after he injured it, he put his thumb in his mouth so it would have been difficult for anyone to see he was hurt in the crook of his arm.

Some very kind people helped me find a nurse who we know who goes to our church.  Luckily she hadn't left and was kind enough to help.  After we cleaned it out, it didn't appear to be an open laceration, which was strange.  It was a very weird-looking boo boo, almost like his skin was pinched.  The nurse got him all fixed up, and we headed home.

Unfortunately for me, Tobey fell asleep in the car so he didn't take an afternoon nap.  However, he was acting normal so I was happy about that.  So we went grocery shopping, and as I was putting away the groceries, Tobey started screaming.  I ran to him and picked him up, and his face was covered in blood!  I cleaned it off, and he had a huge gash on his forehead.  So we immediately jumped in the car and went to the ER.

Tobey was so brave the entire time.  He barely cried, and just kept sucking his thumb.  He sat very still in my lap while being examined.  Fortunately, the doc was able to glue together his forehead wound so he didn't get any stitches.

Needless to say, it was a long and stressful and emotional day.  We did clean out the arm wound again, and the skin was broken, so it must have been opened up under where the skin was bunched up.  But both wounds should heal, and we'll do our best to avoid scares.  Here is a picture of his head after it got glued.

plane train

Tobey said this was a "big plane train" and that it ran on rails, as opposed to flying in the sky.

watching diving

We were watching the Olympic trials this afternoon, and every time a diver did a dive, Tobey cracked up.  He was really enjoying it!

homemade jeans

Tobey's quote for the day after I told him we were going to pick up daddy's new jeans: "Daddy no need new jeans. Daddy need homemade jeans."

not sure how these photos never got posted

When I was saving some pictures tonight, I noticed these pictures and realized they were never posted on the blog.  I'm not sure when these were taken, but it was obviously before Tobey's most recent haircut.  He's such a goofball.

too spicy

Adam finally tried his soda maker that he bought for $10 off of Craigslist today.  He used it to carbinate some Hawiian Punch.  Tobey saw him drinking it and begged and begged to have some.  When Adam let him try some, Tobey said it was "too spicy" and that he didn't want any more.

happy father's day!

Happy Father's Day to Adam who is the best, most loving, most caring, and most fun dad that Tobey and October Baby could possibly have!  We had a nice day going to mass, then the "bridge" park, out to eat at On The Boarder (Tobey enjoyed his Mexican Grilled Cheese, otherwise known as a quesadilla), had free ice cream at the new Yogli Mogli, swam in the baby pool in the backyard, and had pizza from the new Marco's.  Now Adam is enjoying the bball game.  Hope it's been a good day for him.

We love you, babe!

getting red and getting knocked down

Yesterday, Tobey was with Adam, and he was riding his tricycle without shoes (we had just gotten back from the pool).  He stubbed his Tobey and told Adam, "Tobey got red."  His toe was bleeding.  :(

Today, I told Tobey that he'd be able to put his hand on my belly and get kicked by the baby.  So he said, "Baby kick Tobey.  Tobey get knocked down."

baby jesus' eye balls

After telling us that Jesus was not on the cross on his wall (very smart!), Tobey told us that, "Baby Jesus has eye balls."

tobey and great grandma

I forgot to include this picture with our vacation photos because it was on my phone.  Here is Tobey with his great grandma Fisher.

summer vacation

I haven't posted much the past week to week and a half because we have been out of town.  We went down to Fort Myers for about a week and then we went to Orlando to take Tobey to Disney.  Most of the time was spent at the pool or at the park, and Tobey was exhausted the entire trip.  We didn't take very many pictures this trip, and I really wish that I had gotten some pictures of Tobey and Ezra, but c'est la vie.

Got to hang out with our friends Angel and Nicki (we also met up with our friend Ketan who we worked with at Disney, but we forgot to get a picture of him).

it's a...

...BOY!

This baby boy must be really healthy because he was wild!  He was flipping all around, and I was thinking there was no way we'd find out the gender.  Here are his pictures:

thunder and lightening

Last night at 3am, a thunderstorm rolled through, and I heard Tobey screaming from his crib.  He has developed a fear of thunder during the past few weeks so I knew he was scared.  I brought him into bed with us (and of course he didn't sleep).  When the rain stopped, the dogs started to cry so Adam took them out.  When they were done, they went right to sleep.  We were telling Tobey how the dogs just went right to sleep, and so he told us this story...

"Rain stopped.  Penny Miles go RIGHT OUT to go poopoo peepee.  Penny Miles go RIGHT IN and take nap."

That pretty much summed up the dogs activity.

boy or girl

Tomorrow we find out if October Baby is a boy or a girl.  My guess is boy.  Adam and Tobey are both guessing girl.  Either way we'll be very happy.
