things i learned watching two kids

I did learn a few things while Ezra was here.

1. Babies and toddlers will wake each other up even if they are not in the same room.  (Several times, Tobey walked in on Ezra napping, and then Ezra woke Tobey up with his crying.)
2.  All kids have their pros and cons.  While Ezra is an easy baby, he spits up...a lot.  He is an excellent eater though.
3. It's not impossible to watch 2 kids, and it will be fine once the baby comes in October.

I feel like I learned other things, but now I forget!

ezra, mom, and koko come to visit

Last week, my mom, Jessica (also know as KoKo), and Ezra came to visit.  Jessica had to go to a conference for work so most of the time she was there so it was up to my mom and I to watch Ezra.

They got here last Tuesday, and we went straight to the Varsity when their planes landed.  It was Ezra's first time (and my mom's)!

Most of the rest of the week we just played around.  Ezra loved Tobey's ball pit!

Then on Friday afternoon we kidnapped Jess from the conference a little early and went to the mall.  Here we are with our little babies!

Tobey was just really wild most of the time my family was here.  He was perhaps a little jealous of Ezra getting attention.  At one point when we were at the park, Tobey grabbed Ezra's toy and ran as fast as he could towards the lake; luckily my mom got him b/c otherwise that toy was going to be in the lake.

There were a couple of times my mom watched both of the boys at the same time, and she said that Tobey was out of control with his energy.  But he loves his Mimi.

Here are a few more pictures.

The boys sat in the backseat next to each other.

It was a fun visit, and I am sad they are gone.  Those trips always go by so fast.  At least we will be going down to Fort Myers for Memorial Day and no one will be working then.

narrating

Adam and I have been joking lately that Tobey has been narrating our lives for us.  He tells everyone what they are doing and what he is doing.  This is how his narration went yesterday morning when I got him from his crib.

Penny Miles hungry.
Penny Miles want food.
Mommy get Penny Miles food.
Miles bark.
Doggies eating.
Penny eating.
Miles eating.
Doggies eating.
Tobey watch doggies eating.
Penny done eating.
Penny drinking.
Penny done.
Miles done eating.
Penny Miles go outside.
Mommy thirsty.
Mommy get drink.
Mommy get water.
Ice go down, down down.
Water go down.

And this went on all day.

pregnancy differences

It is true what they say that pregnancies are different.  This time I have had insomnia during the first trimester, and I have had a hard time eating because my stomach has seemed to shrink in size.  I eat a few bites, and then I am full.  I don't remember that happening last time.  I also had a sore hip for a while, but it seems to be doing better.

silly tobey

Tobey was saying all kinds of funny things at dinner tonight.  First he said that, "car bar crawling around."  Then he was telling Adam all about how he saw a snake in the backyard and how Penny was going around it and barking at it.  Then he told Adam that when the new baby comes, he gets his ball pit back (since his ball pit was taken away today due to bad behavior after many, many warnings).

speak of the devil

Today, Tobey overheard me use the phrase "speak of the devil", and then he kept saying, "devil, devil, devil."  Not really a word I want him to be repeating...

Tobey got another strawberry (can't say whether he picked it or stole it from someone else's bucket though).

and he is out of the crib

How is it that on a day when Tobey has a fever and is throwing up that he climbs out of his crib for the first time. Actually, according to him, he "hopped"out. To me it looked more like he flopped out, and fortunately I caught him right before he hit the floor.

the joys of parenting

Heard Tobey calling for me so I went into his pitch dark room to see what was the matter. I reached my hand into his crib hoping to feel his head to check for fever. Instead, I stuck my hand into vomit.

evening prayer

During Tobey's prayer time tonight, Tobey asked to pray for himself, his old train, Dewey (my parents' dog), and Ricky (my sister's dog).

all day

I may have already blogged about this, but it is so funny that it doesnt hurt to mention twice.  Somehow Tobey picked up the phrase all day.  so he will say things and then add all day.  Tobey read book all day.  Daddy play with Tobey all day.  Once he even said to me Tobey drink all day.  I couldnt help but laugh at that.

jam

My first attempt at homemade strawberry jam.  I will post pictures of strawberry picking soon.

I havent tried it yet, but hopefully it will be decent enough!'

teeth

Tobey has always been a good teether.  In fact, we never know he got any teeth until he already has them.  Today I was talking to my friend Abbey saying that Tobey didn't have any of his 2-year molars yet, but tonight when we brushed his teeth, I decided just to check.  And sure enough, he already had 2 of them!  I know other parents say that teething is a nightmare so we must be very blessed to never know teething was happening!

cravings with october baby

I'm writing this on 3/26/12, and I am almost 10 weeks pregnant with our little October Baby.  This pregnancy has been really different from Tobey's.  I'm not nearly as sick as I was, but I am still feeling queasy.  Hopefully by the time this is published, I'll be better.  One thing though is that I have been craving Pizza Hut Pizza for some odd reason.  I'm just going with it, and I have no clue how many of these I have had so far.  I'm so thankful that I noticed the Pizza Hut Express/Taco Bell on Lawrence-Suwanee that I had never noticed until I became pregnant with October Baby.

october baby

We got a very special Valentine's gift from above this year!  Due 10/24/12!

We are at 12 weeks today, and everything is going very well.  I was sick for a few weeks, but it was no where near as bad as it was with Tobey.  Of course, running around after a 2 year old adds a whole new dimension to morning sickness!

We found out on Valentine's Day which was a few days early, but we decided to give it a try anyways.  We took the test as soon as Adam got home from work, and then we celebrated with a pizza.

Tobey is talking about the baby a lot, but who knows what he really understands.  He comes up to my belly and says "baby".  We've looked at pregnancy pictures when I was pregnant with him to give him an idea of what will be happening.

Today we went for the 12 weeks ultrasound, and the baby was wild!  He/she was a lot more active than Tobey was on ultrasound.  In fact, the baby was jumping so much that Adam and I have been describing the baby was looking like a fish flopping around on dry land.  Tobey went to the ultrasound and said, "baby jumping in mommy tummy." The baby was also moving its mouth, and the ultrasound tech said that the baby was sucking.

We weren't able to see the sex of the baby, but my guess is that it is another boy.  Adam thinks it is a girl, but he only thinks that because I was wrong last time (I could have sworn Tobey was going to be a girl).

Anyways, here are some pictures from today.  The ultrasound machine was not quite as good as the one at our old OB, but you can still see quite a bit.
