It'll be days like today that I will really miss when the baby comes. I often forget and take for granted how fun and cooperative Tobey is as a toddler. For instance, after breakfast he brought me a few books to read to him so we read for about 30 minutes. Then we played on the bed and he jumped all around like a wild man. We went to Toy 'R Us to find a birthday gift for one of his friends, and Tobey did not ask for anything, not once even though we were there for an hour. He never complained when we went to the grocery store. He just talked to me and was a joy to be with. Then when we got home, I told him he could play outside for 15 minutes, and that was exactly what he did. When I told him time was up, he walked right to the door, opened it, and went inside. It was a pleasant morning.
He definitely has his moments, his days, and even his weeks, but he has been a good toddler. Right now he is in his crib for a nap, but he is just talking. Not crying, not screaming, not climbing out. He's just playing by himself. Actually he is stepping on his stuffed fire engine!
I'll miss days like today and only taking care of him. But I just keep reminding myself that he is not going away. We'll just have a new little person to hang out with every day.
